The Title: Boricua en El Medio

Boricua en El Medio is a poetic-ethnographic-documentary that I am currently working on. I chose to title this project Boricua en El Medio to signify two things: being Puerto Rican in the Midwest (Medio-Oeste)  and no matter what the exterior is (dark, light etc.) it is an internalized reality, adrento. Those who we have interviewed have said it best "It's just something that you feel. In the inside, en tu corazon...". Being Puerto Rican transcends the Crayola Color way of thinking about identity that is propagated in the United States (being black and being white). Having kids in the Caribbean (from my experience Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic) is a gamble on what phenomenological features will be most prevalent. I have green eyes and am cafe con leche, while my younger brother really resembles Felix "Tito" Trinidad. We're both Boricua.

We've just screened a shorter and more experimental version of the documentary. If you'd like to contribute in any way visit our page and contact us!

Works in Progress: Closure

"Depart from this time and location!
Leave as soon as you can.
I do not want to feel captured,
as a man in the can
without a hand, his wallet or a plan.
A maul to break these chains is essential
to be victor
in a century where thieves,
captors of hearts,
roam in and out of Rome for free..."
